Many universities require students to attend basic science classes

Many universities require students to attend basic science classes such as mathematics or physics. Some students complain about it while I believe this policy is well sustained by the following two reasons and it is really beneficial.
First of all, as I have observed, there are always some individuals who do not know clearly about what they are fund of. Attending basic science classes offers them chances to gain overviews about campus courses and consequently find out which subject interests them most or which subjects they do not like. For instance, one of my roommates found that it was hard to for her to catch up with others on science subjects such as advanced mathematics, so she finally made up her mind to transfer to English Literature Major. Now she is satisfied with her current major and really good at her lessons.
In addition, taking different kinds of basic science classes helps students know more about other subjects which hence they can combine the knowledge with their own field of the study. Taking mathematics for example, one who works on Education may use mathematical way to analyze the efficiency of a new teaching method. This would make the result more trustworthy. Besides, the study on some science subjects makes a person more rational which would certainly do good to his or her study and work. This is just the kind of talent the society needs these days.
However, on the other hand, I think students should not spend too much time on classes which are not part of the field of the study in respect that everyone's energy and time is limited. Students should pay more attention to their own lessons instead of those which have no relationship to their majors. In this case, I think universities can make some of basic science classes optional. So students could decide which class to take on the basis of their own condition.
All in all, I believe it is generally a good thing for students to be required by university to take basic science classes in the long run due to the above aspects I have mentioned.

Most business people are motivated only by the desire for money

Disagree:1. true happiness (definition); for other purchase--- society for community, customer, employee2. evidence: (?  Corporation)    moral constrain;
3.only for money can’t obtain true happiness,  can’t make money

A teacher who is serious and strict is more efficient than interested one.

Contract with the opinion of many people is my heartfelt objection to the idea that a serious and strict teachers are usually more efficient for a teacher who is humorous and easygoing makes students feel less stressful and more interested on the subject he teaches, although we have to take strict teachers' strong points into consideration, too.
First, teaching by a serious and strict teacher, students always feel that they are forced to study and this consequently leads to low efficiency. Students may conflict with the teacher consciously or unconsciously by not obeying the teacher's words or other similar acts. On the other hand, however, a humorous teacher gives more room and freedom to students which makes them feel they are totally respected and more willing to finish the given task.
In addition, a humorous and easygoing teacher is more likely to intrigue students' interest. By teaching in a humorous and friendly way, the teacher gives students an impression that this subject is really interesting. With an interest, the learning process becomes more enjoyable and students can do better in an easier way. Great interest causes great passion too. This passion pushes students to achieve more contribution and success will follow. For instance, when I was in high school, we had a great physics teacher who always made everyone laugh, so we were more concentrated during his class. After graduation, some of my classmates even choose physics as their major which is normally believed to be tedious and tough.
However, strict teachers also have their own strong points. Students are more likely to finish homework in time and receive good marks during the exam under a strict requirement. But as it is the fear towards the teacher which guarantees all these, students may not benefit much in the long run.
All in all, according to what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that, usually, a humorous and easygoing teacher can be the more efficient one and can effect the students in a most positive way.

Composition:Printed books have greater effects on society than television has.

The development of science and technology leads to the revolution of the study of students. Nowadays, people are more likely to choose the electronic media, such as computer and internet, television, to get information and knowledge. Some people hold the idea that students will not use printed books any more after twenty years. As far as I am concerned, although the demand for printed books will decrease to a certain degree, it is overestimated to state that printed books will disappear in the students' study.
The decreasing demand of the books could be accounted for some important reasons. For one thing, it is much more economic to use electronic books compared to the high price of the printed books. This phenomenon has becoming increasingly remarkable in some developed countries. Take California for example, the state government had banned a new law to enlarge the usage of electronic study materials. For another, declining the use of printed books do better to the environment. More and more trees will be preserved to protect our nature. Thus, the printed books will be replaced to a certain degree.
Despite the decreasing demands of printed books, it is exaggerating to say that students will not use printed books anymore. The traditional printed books will still have its own position. First, not all of the students prefer electronic study materials to printed books. According to a survey, quite a number of students cannot concentrate on their study materials when they are asked to use electronic books despite its convenience. The computer and internet may always distract the students from true learning. Second, some students may have better feeling to printed books. The traditional study materials still have its magic to students. Third, some courses could only be studied better by printed books. I cannot imagine students may learn philosophy will if they are forced to study in front of monitors. The modern technology may discourage the creative thinking. Therefore, the printed books will still last for a long time.
It is conceivable that the new media will facilitate the learning process, and as a result, the printed books will lost its previously dominated position. However, it is impossible for the disappearance of the printed books. In order to learn better and more efficiently, students should take both methods.

⒕08-9-13 Composition:Information in TV is not enough so we should get the inform

Mass media helps us to recognize the world better by acquiring tons of information everyday. Television, as the main medium for us to get news and entertainment, has become increasingly indispensable in our lives. Some people argue that we do not have to browse news in newspapers because televisions have already provided enough information. As far as I am concerned, I hold the opposite opinion. To truly understand world event, we should get our news from both newspaper and TV.
Televisions cannot bring the comprehensive information to us, while newspaper and other medium can be used as supplement. Because of the limited time to broadcast large amounts of news, people are not able to get sufficient information to know the events. Most people may have the experience that it takes only several seconds to watch a piece of news on television. Televisions cannot spare enough time to cover the news to make it clear to people. In that case, newspapers are excellent complement for this. For example, we may notice the news about Iraq Crisis on television and it is impossible for us to get the background from televisions, but a newspaper could help us to understand it well. What' more, words on newspaper are much deeper. So, only televisions could not help us to know the events well.
There are large amounts of factors influence news showed on television. First of all, news on television may have a lot of bias. Nowadays, most of the televisions programs are supported by the private companies. It is not surprising that the companies may choose some news which is advantageous to them and discard the news which is not accordance with their profits. It results that the news on televisions are prejudicial and even have side-effects to lead people failed in understanding the event well. For example, the Korea Broadcast Stations usually provide some news about the ugliness of other countries and most of these news are fake and unilateral.  What' more, in order to seize profits in this market oriented society, advertisements are largely appeared on television. Overfull commercial advertisement may prevent people from recognizing the world. In short, televisions usually fail to tell us the truth about the events, which are contradicted with the essence of news.
Although televisions could supply large amounts of information to us, it is not enough for us to understand the world events better. To conclude, newspapers and other medias will help us to know the event completely and deeply.

⒗08-10-18Composition:which is more influenced students, teachers or friends

When it comes to whether friends exert more influence than teachers on a child’s success in school, I would claim that friends play a more significant role. My opinion is very convincing due to the following reasons.
Fist of all, the similar psychology between children and their friends allows them communicate better. Teachers have to guide too many student, they can’t give everybody enough personal attention. What’s more, teachers are more concentrate on children’s academic performance. In contrast, the friends are able to share their difficulties in learning and help each other learn lecture efficiently and solve hard problems together. I clearly remember last time when I prepare for the IBT test, it became so hard for me. I almost rather upset and almost lose my heart. My friend Nana saw me and inspired me by saying that I can overcome that task and make my dream come true. All I have to do first was to make a well-organized plan to divide my goal into several little parts, which are attractive and attainable. Just like that, I gradually had a faith in conquering this obstacle. Day by day, the more I practiced, the more confidence I gained.
Moreover, students and their friends share emotions both on campus and after school. They spend more time together with each other. No teacher can spend so much time with one student. This is also the reason why there is gap between teachers and students. But with friends, they can share emotions, sympathy, and interests together. Through communication, they build up a close relationship with each other.
In addition, students in a class are under the same pressure, which stimulates more mutual understanding and tolerance. They all attempt to study according to their parents’ wish and their teachers’ guidance. They all have to face the same pressures of various examinations. Their tasks are in common. Through discussion with their friends, they broad ken, share opinions and improve knowledge and communication techniques. What’s more, not only friends but also such skills are very important for their future careers.
In conclusion, friends play a more important role in students than teachers. But we must also admit that teachers are very crucial factors in the success of students.

⒘08-11-30 travel abroad or travel in the country.

It should be obvious that people tend to travel around when they are on vocations than before. Some people opt to travel in their own country. While, others like travelling abroad. When I face the option I will undoubtedly choose to have a trip at home.
First of all, there may be language or culture barrier to communicate with foreigners when we travel abroad. Needless to say, if you want to travel abroad you had better know the language there. Of course you can take a translator with you. But it is indeed unconvinient if there is always a person following you wherever you go. In addition, you may have some culture conflicts with the native there since you are just a tourist. For example, if you are used to using folks to take dishes, you maybe uncomfortable to see Indian eating food by hands. And you probably have a bad appetite during the whole trip in India.
Second, since you are a foreigner you can not fully understand what you have seen when you travel abroad. Take my friend Lily as an example. She travelled to England last month. Arriving London, she was tottally disappointed. What she had seen were the old theatres and museums and he did not like them at all because she had no idea about the history and culture there. What a pity! It is a waste of both time and money. But it would not happen when you travel in your own country.
Finally, travelling at home can make us have a strong sense of pride. When we travel in our own countey we may be addicted to the natural spectacle, surprised by the diverse customs and impressed by the history of our country. When we are back, we would be more willing to work hard to contribute to our country.
In sum, we safely draw the conclusion that people benefit more from travelling in their own country than travellig in a foreign country. We all know that we can not deeply understand what we have seen in a foreign country as tourists, coupled with the language or culture barrier. So I will not hesitant to choose to travel at home.

⒙those don’t need work because they have enough money barely feel happy.

Nowadays, many people have a dream to earn a great amount of money without working. Although they  works very hard,  they achieve unsatisfactory salary. As the increasingly fierce competition in our society, this view will be more and more prevalent, especially for some young people with high ambition but less success. However, as far as I am concerned, I agree with the point that people who do not have to work but get higher pay are not happy.
People will be unhappy if they could not share the happiness derived by labor. As an old saying goes, labor makes happiness. It means that people acquire a lot of happiness through labor. The success of a thing will cheer people up. People might sometimes complain about their boring work. However, when people could touch the success of their work, they will be gratified because their labor finally get pay. Take my scientific examination for example, I get less pay but I have to spend day and night to get achievement. I feel comfortable about my job because I have a faith that I will succeed. I think I was the happiest at the moment that I was informed that my paper was accepted by leading journal. However, if people could get enough money without working, they have no opportunity to experience the delight gained by the labor. In this respect, labor could give happiness to people.
The rich people without working may lose a lot of things beyond the money. For most of the people, money is not the most important things in the world, some others, such as health and love, should be come first. For the rich people, they may take it for granted that they could achieve everything with the money. So, at the same time, they may lose something which seem more necessary to be happy. For example, some millionaires may not have to work to earn their lives, but it is hardly for them to get true love. Some girls might want to marry them in order to share the luxurious lives. So, it is reasonable that they may feel depressed although they have enough money.
To get happy is crucial for everyone to meaningful live. Without the labor, it is impossible for people to enjoy the success of great labor. What' more, money may lose a lot of happiness because of their fortune. In conclude, those who don't have to work but are rich is hardly happy.
