Both D and E are given as answeres in two different materials. Which is the right answer?

因为有and,make需要一个平行，不论是eliminated 还是inflated 在时态上都不与make平行

但是如果选C，make的主语就是 the bag ，可是并不是bag本身造成an already terrified passenger think the car was on fire，而是a burst of smoke when the bag inflated

所以这里选E， to 用来表达更准确

1，题干部分，也就是A，用的是and making，原句的语意，逻辑方面没有错，所以and表明make这个动作应该和之前某个动作并列

所以排除B（表因果）， E（to make表示目的，逻辑有问题，或者承接inflate，语意不对）

2，平行对称，从逻辑上看应该是a burst of smoke做make 的主语，make应该和appear对应

A: making没有对称（明显错误）

C：made容易引起错误的对应，如和include对应，产生逻辑错误
