美国的各位的推荐信都是怎么让人写的

原来申请master在国内，就是自己写了改了让老板填。现在2个推荐人都是老美，一个是原来学校的导师，一个是同一个公司以前工作的过的老板，但是说实话他们对我好像也不是特别了解，看了clear admit的网站，他们竟然可以帮人该推荐信。学校的老板可能不太行，毕竟他自己感觉肯定挺好的，不会愿意用改好的，但公司里老板本来就忙，最主要的是从来没有正面合作过很多次，现在的老板我不想让他知道我想读mba，怕保不住现在的工作。很担心那个原来的老板能写出什么样的推荐信。是不是该找clear admit的人consult一个，起草一个draft后让他该呢？其他他们收费也挺贵的，弄一个学校可能要1000刀，不知道值不值。
家里那位说不用，他也给自己的technician写过推荐信，人家也没给他草稿，后来去了挺好的学校。可是我觉得他毕竟是博士，写过不少东西。我以前的老板就是个本科生，多少年不写东西了，又对我不了解，到底能写出什么真的很担心。在职申请的同学你们有同样的问题吗？

学校导师的推荐信貌似用处不大吧？

我的推荐信是找了我的manager和一个team leader写的，他们写完了都会让我看看有没有什么要改的，不过基本就是在用词什么的上面polish一下。

clear admit不会给你起草什么推荐信的，1000对你美国工作的应该不算贵的，但是问题是这个根本不肯能够，没有一家机构能给你这个价且做有质量的编辑。

我的就是自己老板写的，好像没出啥问题。

楼上的不是一个学校1000刀，是一个学校的推荐信修改就是1000刀，当然你最后可以拿来重复利用，但是每个学校问推荐人的问题也很不一样，如果还要结合不同的essay题目，就更复杂了，说实话我都不知掉还有没有时间一个个弄的这么仔细。

能找mgr和team leader真好，我是私底下自己在弄，可不想让公司知道，特别现在经济不好的情况下。另外找2个同一份工作的推荐人不是很难从各个角度和时间段来介绍你吗？我觉得学校的老师有用，因为学校里毕竟是做过research工作，不是光修课，老师和你有非常personal的接触，如果是那种course work的master就没什么意思了。只是我自己的导师是个游神，做research从来不给topic，也很少指导，我其实和他都没接触过很深，不知道他会怎么写。。。

You should communicate with your recommendation writer.  Some Americans want to write it for you and they actually believe it's ethical that you write it youself.  If they just want to sign off then you write it yourself.

Unless you are out of school for less than 2 years or you are applying to a PH.D program, your recommendations should be from 2 of your managers: no peers, no college professors, no friends...  Afterall, you are going to a management program and your recommender should be someone who can access your management potentials, vision, team work abilities, so on...

Here comes the delimma, if they only ask for 2 references,who I should consider then? I worked in a foreign company in china after my bechelor, got a master, and has worked for another two year in the states. I thought the lastest experiences should count. Also I am worry about the credibility of any reference from China.

            I am not sure if it is the case to me. I am worry that if I give the letter to my previous boss, he will not be happly. After all, we both still work in the same place.  If I can not get to a good MBA this year, I may even go back to work under him again in future. I don't want to hurt the relationship.

I understand your concerns.  I can't comment on the credibility and weight of recommendations from China.  One thing for sure is that one of your recommendations should come from your manager from your most recent job.  If you worry about asking your direct line manager (as MANY people have that concern), you should ask for a manager who worked with you or supervised you on some occasions who can and is willing to write your recommendation.  Of course, it is best that this person is very understanding and you share a positive relationship with him/her.

MBA truely is a game and everyone has his/her own to play with it.

My new manager is actually a very "bad" person, micromanager, picky and pushy. If it is not because of the ecomony, I would not bother to work in this place one more day. I can imagine if I disclose that I want to go for MBA next year, he will be more than happy to wipe me out very soon. We already lost one engineer in our team. It is freakingly brutle.
