phD Admission Event in Stanford 归来

感觉来的学校很少，才20个， 其中包括了HBS, Stanford, Chicago, MIT, Berkeley, ROSS, UCLA, USC等等。看来经济影响还是蛮大的。大部分学校都说今年可能要少招（我问的是Finance PhD).。有的说今年的竞争会更激烈。发现两个有趣现象：

- The avearge GMAT score for the second tier schools is higher than that for the first tier schools. So, it seem that GMAT score is weighed heavily by the second tier schools. Actually, some of my friends told me this story before.

- Most people inquire about Finance PhD but I never saw people ask questions about Accounting PhD. So, it maybe indicate that the competition for Finance PhD is more intensive than for Acounting PhD this year.

One advice: Please make sure that the school (especially for public schools such as UC and UT) you plan to apply will admit new students for 2010 Fall since I heard some schools will stop recruiting news PhD in Finance for next year. For example, UFL and FIU will not accept new PhD in Finance students for 2010 Fall.

Competition for Finance is always more intense than that for other subjects. And usually there will be not many professors each school showing up at the info session...
