这题答案给的是C。我上来就把ＢＣＤ给排了，因为我觉得and that..和前面的定语从句平行了，引起误会。怎么都没办法和前面的平行，所以索性把后面的写成一个完整句子。我选了A，B中if 从句中would错。

这是我的思路，不知错在哪里，请各位指教。

我的看法

这里就是that is about half a mile wide and that could do tremendous damage to part of the planet 两个定语从句平行共同修饰an asteroid

而双逗号是插入语可以忽略不看 , if it were to strike Earth,（其实这里是虚拟语气，必须这么用）

A肯定是错的，因为从句和句子是不能用and连接的

could do tremendous damage to part of the planet but
            would 

也是很好的平行，是第二个定语从句内部谓语和谓语的平行

注意体会句子要表达的含义 谁和谁在平行
