Renewable resources of energy (Sun, wind, water) will soon replace fossils fuels such as gases, oil, and coal. Do you agree or disagree?
With the rapid development of science and technology, we human being, to some extent, has explored and applied some renewable resources such as sun, wind and water, which bring about much energy without contaminating the environment. However, I do not believe that in short time, renewable resources of energy would replace fossils fuels , for today the main energy resources is still fossils fuels which is in growing demand and the current technology has not enough capability to explore and utilize the renewable resources of energy in large scale to meet the need of increasing energy consumption.
In the first place, we all know that fossils fuels have almost been the main resources of industry and people’s ordinary life for hundred years, and we have adapt to use these resources. Although people now realize that the use of fossils fuels is generating serious pollution to the environment and look forward to changing the current energy resources, but we have to admit that many equipment and constructions operating today are only available and functioned by using the fossils fuels and it would take many years or even decades years to replace such equipment and constructions with the new facilities which work with renewable resources. Take cars for example, if one day all the cars which need petrol to launch should be changed their engine to new ones which run on renewable sources, it is hard to imagine how much time and much energy for governments or individuals to dedicate into this huge change. What’s more, it would also take a lot time to tutor people how to use the new renewable resources.
In the second place, though we wish the renewable resources could be widely used, for they bring about efficiency and few contamination thus cutting processing cost, the development and capability of technology at current are not sufficient to make the wish come true. For example, wind energy is welcomed by many people but its operation and usage are limited because not every region has sufficient and satisfactory wind to generate electricity, the same as the tide energy does. In addition, building a system to convert the wind and tide energy into electricity or other resources would need much investment and high technology, which, however, under such circumstance, is not realistic and capable, for the majority of countries in the world are still having troubles in dealing with the basic living problems, let alone to invest huge vigor to develop such system. Therefore, it is unrealistic to spread the use of the renewable resources in today’s technology level and financial base, even if, it is only possible for few developed countries.
To sum up, based on the above reasons I have listed, to replace the fossils fuels with renewable resources in shot time is impractical. Because to adjust the present industry to use renewable resources would take much time and the technology capacity and financial base are not sufficient to make such a transform under present level.
