正确答案E，但我觉得这里不定式有歧义- to allow members...也可以修饰Judge denied，也就是说Judge Bonham denied a motion in order to allow members...这样理解有什么错呢？为什么不定式这里一定是修饰motion的呢？

to allow members...难道不是修饰Judge denied？这样逻辑意思也说得通呢 如果想修饰motion应该会用that从句啊～

不是哦，OG的解释：the rejected motion whould have allowed them to do the first rather than to suffer the second.从这里就可以看出不定式是修饰motion的

刚刚看到这道题～我是这么理解的，如果是根据OG的解释～he rejected motion whould have allowed them to do the first rather than to sufferthe second.那让陪审团的人go home 当然要比confine them to a hotel ( suffer)要好了～不知道这么理解对不对，还请NN们指点！

以前的规矩是陪审团的每天不能回家，只能去酒店。
现在这个动议要求改变这个现状， 让陪审团的人每天可以回家。
但是这个动议被JB先生否决了。

与E项相近的A中间than先后前后的不定式短语to go home和to confine them to a hotel明显主语混乱不一致。
没有deny sth to do sth的搭配， to allow是修饰motion的

顶楼上的，motion to 是固定用法，也可以用that引从句。见朗文：
suggestion at a meeting[countable] a proposal that is made formally at a meeting, and then is usually decided on by voting:

motion to do something/motion that
We will now vote on the motion that membership charges should rise by 15%.

此外这题没有必要纠结在意思上，通过rather than 的平行就能解题啊。
