第一个问题,是独立主格,相当于状语,修饰它前面最近的动词,这个动词可以是多种形式,比如ing,ed,时态变化等

在一贯推崇主动优于被动的GMAT答案中 你知道为什么这题选C么?

就是因为这句里面没有出现 exhausting its oil reserves的逻辑主语 所以答案用了被动形式

状语的功能就是修饰动词 形容词 或者副词 这里时间状语修饰sustain有什么不能理解呢 表示 (在...之后)维持

举个简单的例子 昨晚看电视 watched tv last night 这里last night就修饰watched
