109.

Unlike psychiatrists, who are trained as medical doctors, psychologists have historically been forbidden from prescribing their patients drugs, but in 2002 New Mexico began to grant the privilege of prescribing to licensed, doctoral level psychologists who complete an additional training and certification program.

(A) psychologists have historically been forbidden from prescribing their patients drugs, but in 2002 New Mexico began to grant the privilege of prescribing

(B) psychologists have historically been forbidden to prescribe drugs for their patients, but in 2002 New Mexico began granting prescribing privileges

(C) psychologists have historically been forbidden to prescribe their patients drugs, but in 2002 in New Mexico, the privilege to prescribe began to be granted

(D) historically psychologists have been forbidden from prescribing their patients drugs, but in 2002 New Mexico began to grant the privilege of prescribing 答案:B

(E) historically psychologists have been forbidden from prescribing drugs for their patients, but in 2002 in New Mexico, they began granting prescribing privileges

对于B项还有不懂的就是begin to do 与begin doing。 这里New Mexico 显然是第一次做,应当用begin to do啊。

prep108.According to a new report by the surgeon general, women with less than a high school education were three times as likely to begin smoking as women who went to college.
prep207(GWD-24-34) The study of the fruit fly, a household nuisance but a time-honored experimental subject, has enabled scientists to begin to unravel the secrets of how embryos develop.

After a few weeks' experience, apprentice jewelers can usually begin to discriminate, though not with absolute certainty, between genuine diamonds and imitation diamonds.

umm..
一般来说,begin to do和begin doing可以互换
How old were you when you first started playing the piano?
 2) begin, start用进行时时,为避免重复后接to do:I was beginning to get angry。
 3) 在attempt, intend, begin, start 后接know, understand, realize这类(心理)动词时,常用不定式to do。
I begin to understand the truth。
It began to melt.
