Could you please give me some advice about my application to Wharton?
Here I would like to introduce myself. I graduated from Tsinghua University in 2008, with a GPA 87 out of 100. Since I was majored in accounting, I chose to begin my career as a public accountant in a famous accounting firm, a firm among the "BIG FOUR". To improve my professional competence, I dedicated to obtain both CICPA and CPA Australia certifications within two years. In the past two years, owning to my hard work and outstanding audit conducts, I was named "Excellent Staff" of my company.
I took the TOEFL exam last December and got a result of 109, composed by reading 28, listening 30, writing 29 and speaking 22. I am confidence to say I can handle study in English since I had once studied in University of Sydney in Australia for half a year in 2007 as an international exchange student. I also got five HDs (which mean"Highly Distinction", about top 8% of all candidates for a specific subject) out of six CPA Australia subjects including one highest mark among allChina mainland and HK area candidates. However, since my working load is so high that I got too limited time to prepare the Gmat exam carefully, I only get a 680 with Q51(98%) and V29(52%). I saw Wharton prefer the ones who have both Q and V above 80%, so I am worried about my Verbal is not sufficient for my application. I had just appointed a second test on 8th September, and I hope I can achieve a higher mark (I am not sure that I can achieve 700 next time, butI will try my best).
In 2009, I together with a few friends started a small business providing printing service and DIY T-shirts in our campus. I took the role of a financial consultant while my partners focus on daily operations. Though our capital is limited, the cash flow is good and we have a good profitability.
I apply for a MBA program to enhance my general management skills, and I believe by learning from the best I can prepare myself to be a futurebusiness leader. |
