[求助]in doing sth是否只能是表目的状语？

原来一直觉得in doing sth只能表目的状语，可是这题怎么说？

题目要表达的是"预计汽车制造商在设定红利的时候要相对以前更加保守一些".

in doing sth是否表现为目的状语我认为不是这题的考点. (in doing sth应该是"在做xxoo的时候"吧?)

A,B两个选项than前后不平行: set... than they were / have been, 明显错误;

D,E两个选项that的位置不对.要么就expect that..., 要么就expect XX that...(当然,that引导定从在这句话里面有逻辑错误);

所以就只剩下C了.

建议楼主如果有时间的话,在做完prep以后,可以做一下白勇.它可以帮助楼主更加深入了解gmat的做题法则.之后再回过头来看prep会有很多新的体会.

in doing sth.在LDOCE的解释里也没有说它是做目的状语的:

in:

  while doing something or while something is happening, and as a result of this
　In all the confusion, it is quite possible that some people got tickets without paying.
　In my excitement, I forgot all about the message.
in doing sth
　In trying to protect the queen, Howard had put his own life in danger.

umm....in doing something不是表目的, 而是表"在做...方面"
