besides,i think than  there are populations of pesticide-degrading microbes that free of such chemicals in soils should be
                           than  there are populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils that  are free of such chemicals rather than vice verse

1.      正确选项中为什么比较的时候后边还用in soils 而不用those? 因为这样更清楚，避免了代词指带的不清楚。

可是e中those前有in和in soils 平行,怎么会指代不清呢？

我个人感觉e的问题在于much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in those that are free of such chemicals 做of的宾语是否合适　很显然这里finding后面应该跟同位语从句起解释说明的作用而不是接of的介词短语　

The finding of much larger populations of pesticide-degrading microbes in soils with a relatively long history of pesticide use than in those that are free of such chemicals这句话做主语总觉得怪别扭的　总觉得中间少了点什么　但是又加不上去　这种 N+of+more N than ......的结构存在吗　关键是后面的介词宾语是否成立？？？？请nn指点
