32.  Is it better to enjoy your money when you earn it or is it better to save your money for some time in the future? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

 

 

Generally Western people tend to enjoy the money when they earn it, whereas Eastern people, mostly known Chinese and Japanese, prefer saving the money for future use. Though influenced by American culture to a great extent, I, a 20-year-old Chinese girl, still prefer depositing some money for later use to spending them all at one time.

 

 

My propensity for this has several reasons. To begin with, it is too risky to have nothing on a bank account. Just as the saying goes, “Don’t put all eggs in one basket!” Spending all the money as soon as one gets it means no supply for any future event, say, buying a big house, travelling or for emergency. By saving only a small proportion of money today, deposited to a bank or managed by an insurance company, one person can have a big pool of assets tomorrow, having the ability to cope with any unpredictable incident.

 

 

Moreover, instead of wasting a big amount of money right now, those currencies can be invested to yield a bigger return. Amy, a Chinese housewife, set apart 5% of her wages per month which can be used to buy more clothes or accessories, to invest them into a trust fund, managed by a professional firm for her son’s college education 10 years from now. Should she not do that, her family would have to worry about getting a loan or mortgage to finance the expensive tuition fee. And if you expect even higher benefits, buying stocks may also be a good option, much rewarding than purchasing excessive garbage food right now.

 

 

In addition, developing a good habit of money spending habit is good for the development of society. Look at the current financial crisis in United States. If mankind could make a more elaborate and careful plan of their budget, rather than owe a debt to enjoy life, such downturn would not take place in one way or another. Chinese smaller deterioration may be attributed to their excellent tradition of having a deep pocket.

 

 

To summarize, in order to be better prepared for the future, to earn more money based on the existing money, and to form a benign habit of money usage, saving a little money is much better than using all of it at one stroke. Therefore I advocate everybody to save money from every penny today!
