-至于应该使用Black Americans or a Black American，这里从意思上其实都可以解释通。应该更多关注意思和结构，而不要陷入一些语法的定式中。

PS： dash的作用是强调或者讽刺，用法和comma一样。这里就是为了强调另外两本书。

-the others being Richard Wright's Native Son and Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man 中使用being是一个分句的动词，如果省略的话，就会使意思不通.

一个最直接的方法，虽说不靠谱，就是直接看书名的表达方式：作者名's 书名。
五个选项里只有E选项是和原句中Jean Toomer's Cane的表达一样的。
the others 对应 one of the three best novels，限定了其修饰对象是novel而不是black american。

虽说这方法语法性和逻辑性都不强，但个人觉得语法题有时候不太苛刻地钻语法。。个人感觉，否则会化简为繁，越做越云里雾里。。

这道题目好难，我一开始就把CDE排除了
这道题目，毫无疑问的ever written by Black Americans修饰的是novels
在以前所有的学习中，都是要用复数Black Americans，但答案永远是正确的
我注意到，以前学习中，都是主谓一致
而本题中，a Black American是主语，novels是宾语，主宾之间不存在一致的问题，所以a Black American和Black Americans都是正确的
本题看来是主谓一致的一个小陷阱
