题目：fiction(stories and novels) and non-fiction(science, math...),which kind of book do you prefer?
During the accumulating process of knowledge, the advent of books is considered a milestone due to the fact that books play a crucial role to spread knowledge. Various kinds books serve different functions, thus whether which one is more depends on circumstances. Practical as non-fiction books are, I prefer to read the fictions for their function of education, distraction from boring works and entertainment.
Foremost, fictional books educate individual to lead a successful life. By success I mean the kind of life that one will not regret for wasting time and lament over the wrong paths he/she choose. Taking The Old Man and The Sea, for example, the tough character depicted by Earnest Hemingway should great stamina and fortitude, the very characters that the generation in green house lacks. Besides, the movies adapted from fictional literary works can educate people in a more vivid way. Schindler's List illustrates this point perfectly for it teaches us the meaning of responsibility.
Secondly, fictional books are main distraction from my science. For my peers and me, especially those who major in science and engineering, it is really boring to face large piles of equations. Not only these books can distract me from my tedious tasks, but promote my efficiency of learning as well.
In addition to education and distraction, another significant function of fictional literary works is entertainment. New books, most of which aims at entertaining the public, are being published every day. Some of classmates usually read the latest up-to-date novel online and await the next episode of novel impatiently. Blockbusters from Hollywood, the advertisements of which are on the air all the time, are mainly adapted from novels as well.
In a word, fictional works serve superior functions to that of non-fiction works.
