If I just take three core economics courses from another university but not earn the degree, does it matter? Another question, econometrics, microeconomics I and statistics could be enough?

as long as it shows on your transcript, it is fine. PhD level (from econ dept.) at those three courses would be desirable.

Tufts的经济学还不至于到浪费时间吧。tufts的MA每年都有能申请到很不错的经济学phd的。

100多名学校的master每年也都有申请到不错phd的，如果申请econ的话

top30纯粹是扯淡了，本科排名私立学校和教会学校都占很大便宜，说tufts比osu，minnesota，austin都好，谁信啊。

虽然我不是tufts的，但上了半个多学期的课我绝对有发言权。tufts的经济学绝对是很严谨的，课程也结合了phd的理论，可以学到不少东西。但你如果拿开phd的学校和它比未免有些偏勃。如果单从master来比，我不觉得bu，umich会比tufts强。私立学校现在看来确实牛比，大公立反而不咋的。
