想问一下less可以修饰可数名词么？他和fewer的区别是什么？

为什么选E 不选C？

可以的，less of + singular/plural countable noun都可以。
Less of +countable 表示 可数名词里不可数的"stuff"，比如这里表示 污染物的 量。

fewer可以表示可数名词种类少，也可以表示可数名词的数量少。

这里的用fewer还是less都可以的。

关键的考点在于 比较结构的比较对象的问题。

D 的比较对象不对等。
Vehicle 和 burning gasoline or siesel fuel比较是不对的。必须Vehicles和those(指代vehicles）比较。车和车比。

当然咯，当比较主语的时候 最好可以补出助动词 do,这样句子前后平行更好看，但是不补出 do也不错的。只要没有歧义。

比如这句话 than之后只留一个宾语：有两种理解

1.young people have a smaller commitment to work and a career than （to)  their parents and grandparents
2 young people have a smaller commitment to work and a career than had their parents and grandparents

有歧义时助动词补出，无歧义可省。 

比较结构不用先考虑助动词问题，先看 比较对象 对等否？如果是主语比较： 再看 比较对像歧义否。 满足以上，助动词随便补还是不补。但注意比较主语是这样考虑的。

如果比较宾语 不需要补出助动词，补出算错，因为破坏parallelism。
