Several experiences to share with all of the applicants. Marketing program is still hard to get in for chinese students. USC asked me how many economics courses  I have taken before and they pointed out they prefer economics background students. Maryland seems prefer applicant with strong english communication skills and rich working experiences which most chinese students are lacking of and inferior to students from other countries such as india, Korea.

For students with good economics or statistics background, i sense they having more advange in applying for finance and accounting, which are the hottest areas in biz school and the most competitive area. Actually, there exists great salary gap among different majors. Not all the majors have a promising future, even though every field seems pretty hard to get in. From i know from one of top biz school in Asia, accounting students even have the opportunity to go to top schools in UK, HK, SG, AUS. While in some other fields, students even find difficulty to secure a job in good  universities in China, although both of them spend the same amount of energy and time in phd research.

Good luck to all of the applicants this year.

不同专业的job market 真地像l z 说的那么大吗?如果这样的话,商学院应该在专业间招生人数上有所差别。

The number of students each area admits is pretty much the same. However, the number of applicants applying for each area varies a lot. Generally speaking finance has the highest number of applicants and therefore is the most competitive area.
