agree with "10th floor"... Seems like there are basically 2    types of offers    for students coming from mainland to work in a multinational company: 1) go back to China right after MBA and work in the China office; 2) work ~1-2 years in the company's US office and be sent to China to work as mid-level manager.

I think either option is pretty good. The salary would be international salary regardless where you're based, which is great. I believe you end up saving a lot more by working in China. Not to even mention the cost of living is lower there, in    the U.S. the    variety of taxes and other stuff    cost nearly    40% of    my paycheck!!

If you're planning to    stay in the US for the    long term (i.e. getting residency), it's possible,    but given the uncertainty of the current economy    & job market, it's difficult. You may have to be    willing    to earn a lot less than your peers in    order to get a job. Heck, Americans cannot even get decent jobs...

And my response to BraveMBA - I don't believe by electing Kerry will solve all the economic problems The slugguish job market are due to 2 big factors: increase productivity and outsourcing. Both makes lots of sense if you're the employer and thus, neither    will go away    with a new president. Companies are    doing everything they can to seqeeze productivity out of their current employees instead of hiring news ones. And why should they hire 2 if 1 can do the job just as well? (of course, the 1 is very stressed, but the company doesn't care). And the outsourcing of labor to other countries (China, India and so on) will only    shrink the    salary gap between a US job and a job elsewhere. Outsourcing    has already started to    affect white-collar jobs (finance, IT etc).

As for long-term career planning, I think we just need to be realistic about    our expectations. It took nearly 8 years for Clinton to get the economy to    its golden days in the late 90s.    It'll probably take just as long for this recovery. In these coming years it'll be very    difficult     to get a 6-figure salary right off MBA. This applies to    ANY MBA students, American or Chinese.

I personally think the published table of salary for MBA programs can be misleading. There are 6-figure offers out there. But who gets them? I bet it's the folks who already have lots of experiences in the particular areas.

Ding! Good article!

I don't mean Kerry can bring so great changes to US. However, US is a strange nation, as well as American. US is waiting for the change. No one can imagine Clinton brought a crazy increase to USA. Something seems like the magic in Behavior Organization. The creativity of people can inspired by different spirit, although the people are the same as before.

Hi BraveMBA,

totally agree with you. I think Kerry can definitely bring some good changes for the US. I just don't think he (or anyone, including Allan Greenspan)    can do much about the economy because of the aforementioned reasons. Then again, I have been very pessmistic about the    job market    for almost 2 years

You're absolutely right. US economy is undergoing lots of changes right now. Its manufacturing sector is shrinking very fast and US is becoming a more service oriented economy.    The question is, how will the changes will    affect us?

Businessweek gathered headhunters, B-school officials, and corporate recruiters, to make educated guesses about the 2004 job scene.    Below is the link:

I guess the reason why more HBS graduates came back to China than the alumni from other schools is HBS guys can get the 陶氏 scholarship in Hong Kong.    One of the    requirements    for applying this kind of scholarship is to go back to China right after graduation.
