Yeah, I noticed the TV thing here as well. My couple of guesses:
1) Those TV quality is too good, so people don't think about to change it; 2) It's more monopoply here, so companies don't want to loose profit margins; 3) Most people don't watch TV that much as our Chinese, they may spend more time on their cars; 4) People here are insensitive to 立体声喇叭, so that they don't care.
Overall, it's a totally different life style here.
It depends. My guess is only teenage or around 20s will use those fancy cell phone and cable/ADSL surfing internet. If you talk to any teenages here in North America, they will tell you every fancy things, like: games, cloth, cell phone, etc.
