bye, my beloved Kellogg

I got to know Kellogg 7 years ago when I took the first marketing course. Since then, I have been attracted to this amazing school. When I applied last year, Kellogg is the last school I applied. At that time, I felt that I would rather make all mistakes possible before I apply for Kellogg, a way that I could get a better chance for my dream school. Unfortunately I was waitlisted...When a new application year came, Kellogg became the first school I applied - I know how tough this year would be, but I never stop pursuing my beloved...really can't remember how many times I interacted with this great community, how much information I strived to get about this school, and how many hours I devoted myself to it...still, I was dinged, even worse result than last year...

that's probably the way that we apply MBA, and that's life. I may not always get what I really want, but the whole process taught me much more that I can apply to attain a long term goal - definitely it's not a title of a school or a degree of business administration...Keep walking, and don't settle!

Best luck to everyone...

Very inspiring lines... I can feel your pain of losing the dream school.

Two tragidies in life: one is not to get your heart's desire, the other is to get it. I told myself this after I missed mine.

Let's wait for the window to open if our door is locked.

hi, justgoahead, just as what you nickname is, just go ahead!

I never doubt your future success without Kellogg.

BTW: UNC delivered fellowship info emails but i didn't get any fellowships.

How about you?

hey, Nicholas, thanks for your words! Neither did I get the UNC scholarship. So far I did not know anyone receiving scholarship. According to the email, we may still have chance to get scholarship after we make the deposit...

Jason,
My buddy, I really didn't expect such a result from your dream school. I have observed how highly motivated you were when applying Kellogg.

As we all know, mainland Chinese is a "dreadful" group, we all have passions, good G scores, background and career profile but there are so many and we have to compete for the limited seats. Rejection was not an indictment of our abilities. So, hang in there, it will work out for you this year.

There are people who applied 3 times or 4 times only to get in the only dream school, there are also people who will get satisfied to enroll safety school. It is just different option, doesn't mean one option is superior than the other. What same is how we grow through the process, know who we are and what our career path should be. I am so glad that you have identified these through the application process. Even without an Kellogg offer, you have accomplished a lot.

Let me share one para of the article from re-re applicant who dreamed for Sloan but finally got in Tuck. It was so inspirational when i failed in my first year application.

"In the meantime I had taken GMAT twice once in June and once in August
and scored the same 690 each time. I also enrolled in to another MBA
level Fall course. I applied to W/Sloan/Tuck and Ross. I also took GMAT
for the record 5th time in October, this time in a similar fashion like
yours, just one week preparation and on a weekend, and scored 730.
Feeling stronger this time with scores and better recommendations
including one from a sloan  alumnus who was very passionate about my
candidacy and believes in my potential, I was hoping to get at least an
interview from Sloan. On what Wharton front, I was dinged without an
interview. I think they got tired of me. But Tuck reciprocated my love
and offered me admission in the EA. I was ecstatic. I was also wait
listed at Ross. But the one school that has
been always my dream, passion, the school with which I could relate
very strongly both personally and professionally, Sloan, still eludes
me.
I did not get an interview invite this year and though
my yearning is true, I am in a better position to handle the pain. Tuck
is indeed a great school and I am really looking fwd to get involved."

The competition becomes more fierce, but we also have tons of endurance. Keep up for our dream!

I was also a reapplicant for stanford two years ago.

First year I got waitlist and the second got deny.

But after two years struggling, I found perhaps what I have dreamed most was not exactly what I need most. I am an investment banker and chase for a career in investment management after mba, therefore wharton, chicago, columbia, nyu are all good choices for me. I cared so much about the "reputation" before.

Telling this story just want to share career matters not brand.

hey Vivienpig, thanks for your story and message. Yes. career matters, and life matters - whatever MBA program, as long as it fits us and gets us there. +u!
