1.discovering
在Ａ，Ｃ中作为插入语，把主语和谓语隔的太远了，不好。ＯＧ上有好几题都是类似的。其解释为subject+verb这样的结构清楚简明，不易产生歧义，这应该是GMAT的一个倾向性。

    

2.另外关于时态。That 引导的定语从句修饰secret.

    用现在完成时态表达是是一个事实即the Yankee Peddler 在Lincon前知道，只是一个两个事件发生先后的比较，并没有强调过去的过去。

Intended
修饰funds, 是被动。而用intending的话，就近修饰funds,而funds 是不会主动有intend 这个动作的。
