can't understand '... than the previous year's figure. isn't '.... than it was the previous year' better? thanks

这里的比较对象是amount和figure
amount和figure对应的很好呀

if E is changed as "an amount that is 14 percent higher than it was in the previous year" right?

我认为是不正确的
an amount that is 14 percent higher than it was in the previous year
这里变成an amount与it was in the previous year这两个比较，对象（我仍然坚持than前后两部分为比较对象）不对等呀，而且这里的it用的也很怪
