Invited to attend a HAAS commercial conference in Singapore

Haas will organize a themed conferrence about mangement of family business in Singapore on 1 Dec. Dean of Haas and NTU, as well as  senior goverment offcials of Singpaore will present this conferrence. i am also invited as a propective HAAS student, should i consider this conference as a informal interview? or should i use this chance to approach HAAS dean to give him a good first impression which will contribute to my application? your advices are highly appreciated..
