先说#150:

a massive missile attack是一个动态过程, 与之对应的也必须是动态过程: the rising of the moon. The rising moon不好, 拿moon与attack相比较; the rise of the moon也不好, the rise 可以显示已经皓月当空了, 没有rising所表达的清晰的动感.  B最好.

我做的时候看到最后的at lower cost, 于是排除ABE,然后选C. A另外一个毛病是costs or cost前面应该有另一个定冠词, 如果是 the rising of the cost 会另人有些为难的,但这样一来的话没有C简洁, 因为老实说 rising或者cost本身都可以做合理的主语,个人感觉. 但同时, 题目里的每个信息都不是白给的,有时可以帮助找到捷径.

单复数不考虑，我觉得the rising of cost可能就不是一个习惯表达（unidiomatic)，正确的可能是the rise in cost.

我觉得jnlvoGG说的是对的，看52的og官方解释，明确认为rising和cost一起这样表达是unidiomatic的。不过关于是不是idiomatic的问题，中国学生可能会比较没脾气，因为毕竟不是母语，不象母语的学生一读就能感觉出来。不过好在gmat的选项错误不是唯一，大家可以通过别的判断出来，事实上，本题通过排除和比较，我觉得大家多数还是会选C的，因为更简洁，逻辑也更清楚。不过回到the rising of costs,我认为首先costs（复数）值得商榷，因为根据webmaster的解释

1 a : the amount or equivalent paid or charged for something : PRICE  b : the outlay or expenditure (as of effort or sacrifice) made to achieve an object
2 : loss or penalty incurred especially in gaining something
3 plural   : expenses incurred in litigation;  especially   : those given by the law or the court to the prevailing party against the losing party

cost在复数时的意思3明显和本题所述不符，并非说cost在意思1和2时没有复数形式，但是至少此处单数即可，复数却有歧义，此外现在分词强调动作性和正在进行的状态，此句的强调重点也明显不是正在上升的cost，而是上升后的cost使得如何如何

150题中的rising则有所不同，此处必须采用分词the rising在表明动作的状态，因为预警系统从逻辑上讲无论如何是不会把月亮本身当作导弹袭击的。
