答案是D，我选了A.

两个问题，1）我知道是平行结构，可是为什么一定要making和causing平行， 不能making 同时管ignition和flame spreading呢

2）就算必须要making和causing平行, 为什么不是E呢，E和ignition更对称平行阿。

1）如你所说，如果是making同时管他们俩的话，那也应该是...and（making）flames spread more quickly。

2）causing 后面应该是加上n，而不是spreading，最起码也得是causing the spreading of...

其实没必要在DE之间纠缠，如果确定了用causing与前面的making来平行的话，那就毫不犹豫地选D吧，因为D真的很简单明了嘛，有了名词，就不要考虑动名词了。

E的话，我认为只要是后面的more quickly决定了E肯定是错误的，因为很明显，quickly这个副词是修饰spread的，如果是E的话，quickly就修饰causing了，或者退一步讲，不能确定是修饰causing还是修饰spreading
