一看题目就从DE里面比较了，但为什么选D 不选E呢？ 感觉GMAC喜欢用分词在句为表示伴随。。。难道感觉错了？

CAN是情态动词，一般要保留，不能随意添加或丢失。

不能说GMAT喜欢用什么形式，如果在相同的情况，当然使用-ing形式比that从句等更为简洁。对于-ing形式放在句末使用，首先要看其作用,一般情况下有两种作用：（1）表示伴随状态，和主句谓语同时发生，共用同一个主语；（2）修饰之前的名词，说明其属性。所以一般选这种答案的时候还是要理解一下意思，看到底谁是动作的发起者，不能太相当然。GMAT中简洁原则，一般是排在很后面的，简洁的前提是先要保证意思的准确。(呵呵，我以前也经常错，多做点题就好了)

此题你就可以分析一下了，（1）主句的主语是number,显然不能充当动词serve的发出者。（2）临近的名词是temperature，显然也不能充当serve的发出者。故只能用相对不太简洁的表述。

in fact possibly可能错在这两个词连用。in fact 是表示事实上，而possibly表示可能性。中文比较多用事实上可能，其实因该是由逻辑错误的。事实就是事实，排除了可能性的存在。呵呵，个人理解，不知道你怎么看？

我上面分析，有一点自己也不是很确定，其中有个it到底指谁？

我有一点意见，-ing分词短语好像也可以修饰前面整个句子啊，这样说E是有道理的！

两个分句的主语都一样干么要重复一遍呢？
