这里哪儿来的不可数名词，为什么用much而不是many？

虽然LONGMAN中提到：

[uncountable and countable] （American English）

all the goods in a shop

由此可见，inventory 是可以做不可数名词的，但是它前面都用了 “an" 来修饰了，应该在这是可数吧？
