关于ENTREPRENEURSHIP
下面是学校给去年录取的对ENTREPRENEURSHIP感兴趣的同学的一封信,希望能有些帮助。
Entrepreneurship Courses: We have 35 elective classes in entrepreneurship for MBAs. These courses are taught mostly by our senior faculty and by a well-regarded group of professors who are successful entrepreneurs or venture capitalists. For example, I teach two MBA courses, "Creative Financing of New Ventures" and "Private Equity and Debt Markets." Like other professors who are business owners, I share with students the lessons of my experience as managing director, CEO and founder in 1982 of Montrose Capital Corp., a company that has owned or held majority interest in more than 40 businesses. You can review this year's course offerings and gain more insight about our program by clicking on entrepreneurship concentration.
VCIC: We developed the award-winning Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC). Every year, we host the national finals here in Chapel Hill. VCIC (http://www.vcic.unc.edu/) is the nation's premiere strategy competition for venture-minded and entrepreneurial MBA students. It is one of our many extra-curricular offerings. We are excited that the UNC Kenan-Flagler team is the 2008 VCIC Southeast Champions, and will compete in the finals of the VCIC here at Kenan-Flagler on April 17-19, 2008. Advisor: As an MBA student, you benefit from the assistance of a full time advisor, Patrick Vernon, who is dedicated to the entrepreneurial studies program. Patrick will assist you in selecting your courses, depending on your area of interest; help you choose from among the six student clubs that focus on entrepreneurship the ones that are right for you; assist you in finding an internship that meets your career objectives; advise you in our entrepreneurial consulting course; and advise you on launching your new venture or in selecting the right opportunity as you reenter the job market. Contacts: UNC is located adjacent to and has strong networking contacts in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), a hotbed of entrepreneurial activity. We are active partners with the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), the world's largest entrepreneurial networking organization (www.cednc.org). CED gives our students great access into the regional entrepreneurial community. In addition, we work with the Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative (CEI). This is a campus-wide program that encourages students, faculty and staff to take part in a wide range of entrepreneurial opportunities. MBA students often advise CEI teams that are starting a new life science, IT or traditional new venture. Patrick Vernon or I would be happy to tell you more about any of our programs. Also look for us during Experience Weekend, which will take place on campus during the weekend of April 3-5, 2008. You can learn more about our Business Plan Integrative Exercise, "Launch Room," lunch-time speaker series, and Carolina Venture Fellows and other activities by clicking on entrepreneurial events.
