In California, a lack of genetic variation in the Argentine ant has allowed the species to spread widely; due to their being so genetically similar to one another, the ants consider all their fellows to be a close relative and thus do not engage in the kind of fierce intercolony struggles that limits the spread of this species in its native Argentina.

答案是 C  我觉得是D呢 纠结就在于 到底limit是用来修饰 struggles 还是kind  照说A 0F B 结构靠近修饰应该是修饰B才会更好呀  知道的筒子们来说说

个人觉得D。A of B的修饰可能比较麻烦，就近修饰不是每次都可以。但是这道题不能算是一个标准的A of B结构.kind of struggles中kind 显然不是主体。另外C中用单数不是很好，一个东西无法similar。

看了连接，觉得未划线部分的its可以解释成是指代species，不过刚才我也确实没注意到its。所以还是觉得D更好

sorry, wrong link...can't find the right link...anyway.
its是指"the ant"'s, 有點太遠...可是because it..., the ants...its....its native...顯出一致性...
如果選D的話its只指this species...
anyway...open to discussion...


P.S. 我做題時也是選D..可是當時沒看到its

又看了看，确实D的they没有指代对象，问题很严重。我就觉得如果把C的limits改成limit的话，C才对。不然这个是硬伤。

D中的they是指the ants
所以D跟C的區別是
1. limit vs. limits
2. its的指代

谢谢楼上几位的讨论呀  刚刚看了AlienX 给的连接  本来我觉得这题的点不应该在 it （they）上  因为it 可以指Argitina ant   they可以指species  但我突然发现此题句尾的  this species in its...    也就是说此题代词肯定是单数了。。。 所以D被枪毙了。。。 至于是用limit还是limits  想想2个都能说的通 修饰struggles 应该没问题的 若说来修饰kind，也应该是行的 强调的是这种激烈的内部斗争 强调共性，此类斗争   这题的考点我认为还是 it 和they的问题  所以说看题一定要仔细呀 直到最后一句ETS才把单数指代泄露出来

还有AlienX 你说 they有可能指代ants  我倒是觉得不行 因为开头明明就说了the Argentine ant 人家后面没加s呢 说的是“一类” （就像OG里面的army  肯定用作单数一样） open to discussion ~~
