在超级菜鸟SC手册中，有如下解释：Choices A and B incorrectly use the plural verb are with the singular noun equipment.(that are是限定定语从句，不可能修饰lights的，只能修饰equipment, such as lights 是插入语-托福语法)

请问为什么that限定性定语从句，不能修饰 lights？

MM这样问真是误道呀。她说的意思是，在这条题目的情况下 （因为 such as lights 是插入语），that 修饰的是前面的 equipment, 而不是lights.

不好意思，再问两个很笨笨的问题：
1、插入语是否与主句之间没有语法联系？
2、插入语与非限定性定语从句的作用类似，即使去掉了，对主句意思没有任何影响，是吗？

这很难回答！
一般来说，插入语是作同位解释用的。补充解释前面表达的名词或句意概念。确实可有可无。
但GMAT RC 中有许多句子经过复杂的省略倒装转换后，会看不太出来。
而GMAT SC 则还好。没印象有这样的问题。
大家觉得呢？
