以下是引用halcyon在2004-1-16 23:41:00的发言: 2. Since 1981, when the farm depression began, the number of acres overseen by professional farm-management companies have grown from 48 million to nearly 59 million, an area that is about Colorado’s size. (A) have grown from 48 million to nearly 59 million, an area that is about Colorado’s size (B) have grown from 48 million to nearly 59 million, about the size of Colorado (C) has grown from 48 million to nearly 59 million, an area about the size of Colorado (D) has grown from 48 million up to nearly 59 million, an area about the size of Colorado’s (E) has grown from 48 million up to nearly 59 million, about Colorado’s size
我看字典上写 about 表示 “大约” 时候, 为 adv., 那an area about the size of Colorado 是什么用法呢?
about表示"大约"的时候是做比较!
在比较级中有一种表示方法是:
倍数 + the size (amount/length) of +sth
直接作为比较!
这边直接加入about 就可以了!
但为了保持比较对象的合理性.
所以前面加入an area,(这边是意思是面积)
而如果前后比较对象对等,则不用加入名词,直接用about引导比较就可以了!
比如: OG 132 132. According to a study by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, companies in the United States are providing job training and general education for nearly eight million people, about equivalent to the enrollment of the nation's four-year colleges and universities. (A) equivalent to the enrollment of (B) the equivalent of those enrolled in (C) equal to those who are enrolled in (D) as many as the enrollment of (E) as many as are enrolled in
