The ADCom will think you are not excellent enough so that you want to change your career.
How to convience them?

另外，名校往往意味着冷专业，恕我直言，
你的career plan一定不清楚，他们怕你找不到工作，影响他们的starting salary
所以不十分积极要你，再加上如果你的Essay里没有任何商业气息。

1.  First, I feel sorry to hear your unsuccess story - on the side I really appreciate your strightness to share your story with us - and try to draw some lessons from it - further more, I do admire your bravery to face the truth.  If you decide to apply again, to me, your success starts right from this point here.

2.  Liwei_sa upstairs asked a very good question -   the approach of 商业气息.  From your short self-description, I do feel that you are very strong in academic filed - I guess that it is what has been shown in your resume as well.  And, if your letter of recommendation didn't mention anything about your "business capability" - such as leadship, communication skill, etc...it might mislead ADCOM to a unwanted approach toward your case - as a Chinese, we have had some prototype issues to overcome already, and if you don't deal this issue carefully, the disadvantage might be right upon on yourself.

3.  To me, you shall try to get some more exposures on the business fields - such as get some intern chance via school, etc..which will at least to give yourself more content to present in your essay, right?

I asked several residents in US (I am in one medical center). They told me that residency can be count as the real W/E. I think it depents on school. I will contact schools first before i apply next time.

I spent one year to think about this question. Actually, I came US as the postdoc at the beginning. and later became a Ph.D student. The degree for me as a bonus. I really enjoy as a surgeon in Beijing, although the life was extremely busy. My career was going smoothly, even I did not think that US experience is necessary for me. something happened on my patients forced me to change my mind. I want to be a hospital manager so I came to US. But a good doctor (Ph.D or M.D.) does not mean a good manager. So MBA for me is a necessary trainning process. I have multiple choice in US: back China, become a faculty in American universities, take exam and apply residency position and finally practice in US, or change my career direction. My major is not bad and not hard to find a job (Very closely link to clinic). If i finish my Ph.D trainning, my background (M.D., Ph.D, high level paper) is good enough for me to find a good job in academic field. My career plan may emphasize too much that I want to back China after I graduate. This part I need think about it. Some friends told me that I maybe over educated. Some schools may not intersted in those kind of people. Any suggestion here?

Thanks for your suggestion.
Without 商业气息 is a kind shortage in my proposal. But I know top bschools really accept some M.D and Ph.D (even just graduate) each year. I am sure that the recommendation from my previous advisor shows my leadership. (I almost finish my Chief residency before I came US). According to all, I think I really need rearrange my essays, recom, and interview.
