首先请各位大侠看两道鸟题。

紫皮og8：The rising of costs of data-processing operations at many financial institutions has created a growing opportunity for independent companies to provide these services more efficiently and at lower cost.

(a) The rising of costs

(b) Rising costs

(C)The rising cost

(D) Because the rising cost

(E)Because of rising costs

这题首先用主谓一致排除B和E，其次根据句子结构排除D，剩下A和C选项，og解释，the rising of costs不符合习惯表达，所以杀。

再看鸟题紫皮og17，In the mid-1960's a newly installed radar warning system mistook the rising of the moon as a massive missile attack by the Soviets.

(A) rising of the moon as a mssive missile attack by the Soviets

(B) rising of the moon for a massive Soviet missile attack

(C)moon rising to a massive missile attack by the Soviet

(D)moon as it was rising for a massive Soviet missile attack

(E)rise of the moon as a massive Soviet missile attack

这题用og肤浅的杀法，习惯用语mistake sth for sth一下子就除了b外的所有选项杀了。再细心分析一下，用逻辑杀c，d，e。剩下a，b，的确，a中的attack by the Soviets很碍眼。杀。

问题就来了，第二题中the rising of the moon作为了正确选项，那为什么和它一样结构的the rising of costs就被杀掉呢？

请各位大侠解答。谢谢各位。

我自己是这么处理这类问题的,看修饰的重点,

8题重点是说COST has created,the rising cost的修饰重点是cost,所以这个选项对的. 17题,重点说的是把正在升的moon当成导弹,the rising of the moon修饰的重点是of前面的rising,是正在升,所以这个是对的.

关键是两句话的描述重点是有差别的

第一题，我觉得从句子意思的角度，has created的主语可以是"成本"也可以是"上升"，答案说the rising错应该是从rising这个词的形式的角度说的，

the rising of倾向强调正在进行的过程，解释中说unidiomatic，我推测是指在这句话里，

the rising of不如the rise of(强调状态的)更加符合has done这个时态，所以指rising这个词的形式错了；

第二题，从句子意思角度看，用the rising应该跟attack的意思有关，

一个正在进行的"上升"的动作与attack这个表示"动作"的名词对应还是比较恰当的，所以认为rising没有问题，

而假设这里用the rise of，带到原句中，明显就不如强调动作过程的rising好了；

首先，第一题，从逻辑角度理解，应该是价格上升这个事情引起了机会的增多，所以按照本意应该是the cost that is rising,但是根据gmat原则，这种表达属于必杀选项，正确GMAT形式应该是adj+n，因此，有了我们可爱的C选项。

以此类推，第二题，从逻辑角度理解，应该是把月亮上升这个事情当作是导弹攻击，所以按照本意应该是the moon that is rising,同理，此类表达必杀，所以应该改为the rising moon,但是不幸，所有选项都没有这个表达，唯有转换表达为把rising作为名词形式，改为the rising of the moon.

总得来说，是优中取优。

觉得楼上第二题的推理不正确。因为ATTACK是动作性名词，应该与另一动作性名词对应。故用THE RISING OF THE MOON比THE RISING MOON 好。毕竟月亮跟攻击差太远了吧。
