The Olympic Games helped to keep peace among the pugnacious ststes of the Greek wold in that a sacred truce was proclaimed during the festival's month.

选项中的B选项错，根据逻辑proclaim动作的发出者不明确。C选项错，代词they指代不明。

兄弟我的问题是（1）我觉得A选项更好，因为in that是更为书面的表达方式，表示由于...的原因。而OG的正确选项D用for表示因为，个人感觉不严谨。当然，我觉得一个解释可以杀A的，就是the festival's month不如the month of the festival好，因为festival是死物。

问题（2）是E选项，OG解释是啰嗦。个人感觉他的硬伤在于修饰结构错误：名词of名词that这个结构有问题，使到修饰对象不明确。大家觉得对吗？

你看的应该是第10版的解释，第11版OG将in that归为过时用法。
不过，有些考古题目正确选项仍是in that

for表因为的用法，建议不用视为不好，先保留。

像以下這句考題正確句子，考的是that的跳躍修飾。

E的硬伤是原句要表达因果关系，被其改写成 that was for

我来尝试回答一下。

a中in that这个词组og中是摒弃的，因为已经过时了。但是在prep里确实有以in that作为正确选项的。另外lz能不能说说为什么for作为因为会不严谨？我觉得不会。in that和for因该没有明确的取舍，问题在festival's month这儿。

b选项的proclaiming确实是修饰错误，逻辑主语成了Olympic Games。改变原意。而且没有了原句表因果的意思。

c中they指代不好。

e首先是动词变成了动名词，that向前指代“a sacred truth”还是明确的，但是后面的for the month of the festival就不知所云了。

同意ls的,n+n+that照白勇的说法是根据意思判断that修饰前面的that还是后面的that。

n+n的结构修饰不明的应该是n+n+adj或者n+n+介词短语。

我觉得要考 A of B that
通常考题在that的後面动词会用单数、复数来告诉你修饰哪一个。

which与that看来好像离先行词很远，因为中间被插入介系词短与 of, with ,in。

这些介系词的功能是修饰先行词(n.) 所以将修饰先行词的全拿掉，就是了。难在考修饰语误置，不是一下子好判断。
