我觉得应该选C，that后面省略了were。

that跟在passenger后面比在a rooster后面更加准确的定位了修饰的对象。

E为什么不行呢？

我觉得这里有更强的意思再说被送上天，强调被动，但没有进行中或者持续动作的意思。

ascending可能有连续性的意思，但这里指的是一个瞬间性的动作， 我觉得在语法上不算错，只是不如C好
