这道题答案是E 勉强可以接受，因为那四个错的离谱了点。我想问的是if从句的现在时态也可以表示虚拟语气吗。主句用would是否不太合适呢

我从另外一个方面去看了一下这个问题.无论是把would改成will,或者把improve改成improved,都不能表达这个句子要表达的意思.愁予可以试着去改了以后思考一下,或许能有答案.

作为proposal的定语从句,结果是不确定的,所以必然要用would,我认为这里不是will的过去时态,而是情态动词,表不确定的事.时态仍然是现在时态.

既然前面用了would那说明就是虚拟语气啊，后面怎能用if引导的条件状语从句能，if do。。。，would 。。。。是太不正确了吧。后面是不是应该用should表示虚拟语气呢？

这里不是sunjunctive mood， would的用法indicative mood之中，也有好几种，这里只是表示 过去 将来时

实际上。除非有明确的 标志 可以判断 作者认为 所说的情况是不能的，或者假设的。

不然不能看成是虚拟。后面的should也不是虚拟，而是表示 obligation，义务。

不要看到 would,should,were to就说是虚拟。

我觉得这更像一道逻辑题。

首先，GMAT中，proposal that从句中是不能出现would/should的，所以这个would不是搭配proposal的，只能是跟if条件从句连用。

那么好，我们一般定义的if条件从句有两种：真实条件从句和虚拟条件从句。

真实条件从句：

if条件为真            －－>will结果为真。

虚拟条件从句：

if条件虚拟，很可能为假－－>would结果在if条件为真的情况下是真的（但前面已说if条件很可能为假－－>would结构事实上为假）

本题是这样的逻辑：

if条件为真（并没有暗示很难做到）－\－>would结果却不确定真假（整句内容只是一个没有尚未通过的proposal而已）
