Subject: one question regarding your Official Guide 11th edition (CS#:51752)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a GMAT taker from China. and I have a sentence correction question, when I studied the section 3.6/Diagnostic test verbal.
Question 44 of the diagnostic test as follows:
44.Seldom more that 40 feet wide and 12 feet deep, but it ran 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, the Erie Canal connected the Hudson River at Albany to the Great Lakes at Buffalo, providing the port of New York City with a direct water link to the heartland of the North American continent.
A. Seldom more than 40 feet wide and 12 feet deep, but it ran 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, the Erie Canal connected
B. Seldom more than 40 feet wide or 12 feet deep but running 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, the Erie Canal connected
C. It was seldom more than 40 feet wide and 12 feet deep, and ran 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, but the Erie Canal, connecting
D. The Erie Canal was seldom more than 40 feet wide or 12 feet deep and it ran 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, which connected
E. The Erie Canal, seldom more than 40 feet wide and 12 feet deep, but running 363 miles across the rugged wilderness of upstate New York, connecting
The correct answer is B. I have no doubt with that. but in the explanation of D, it says:
(D)the paired concepts of width and depth should be joined by "and", not or.....
but I noticed in the correct answer B, it also uses "or" .
So may I ask you to kindly check if there is anything wrong, or that I have a misunderstanding of this?
Thank you very much for your attention and I am looking forward to your reply!
