Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. ===================================================================================== We all love food, not only because it provides the necessary enegery needed by our body to function properly, but also because fine cuisine is a superb enjoyment. What is more rewarding than having a delicious dinner after a long day of hardwork? But to most of us, cooking is not always an easy task, for preparing a proper meal is time-consuming and often requires complex culinary skills. Fortunately, over years, food has become easier to prepare, which has remarkedly improved our lives. One of its most significant impact on our lives is that it allows us to spend less time in the kitchen and accordinly more time on other important activities. As a result, a mother has more time to play with her children; a wife can go to the theater with her husband after dinner without compromising on the dinner quality; a busy young bachelor can allocate more time for work…and so on. The benefits in this aspect are obvious, especially to us who live in the modern society where the pace of life has generally become faster than a few decades ago. In addition, ease of food preparation means a longer menu than before, from which we can choose what dishes to have without being contraint by our inexpert culinary skills and insufficient time. Variety is essential to food, not only for the commonly known balanced nutrition, but for sensational gratification as well. Can you imagine how a man would feel when he gets home at 7:00pm, exhausted from work and desperate for some relaxation, only to find on the dining table what he has been eating in the past three days because his inexperienced wife does not feel confident enough to cook other recipes? Disappointed? Yes. Satisfied? No. Luckily we don’t have to face this man’s situation thanks to food that is easy to prepare. Some may argue that our life quality is actully lowered because of the unnourishing fast food that can be produced very easily and quickly. It is true that excessive consumption of fast food can be harmful to our health. But this is only part of the picture. One should never neglect the convenience it brings, which is appreciated by many people with busy schedules who once in a while may not have time to sit in front of the dining tables. In this sense, fast food is not completely a setback in our life quality. In a nutshell, although improvement in food preparation has created a byproduct that is not entirely favorable – fast food, overall speaking our lives have definitely become much better because of it.
