对。其实"On earth"的意思没那么复杂，就是"在世界上的"意思。考点不在这里。

这道题目on earth具体修饰谁很难一下子判断出来。
但首先要知道是倒装，这样就能排除AB，主谓一致决定要用is而不是are
as seen in the rings visible in the cross sections of their trunks. 是跟 the rate that trees grow比较的，所以要贴近。但具体用法希望nn来解答。

赞同这种说法！是后面那一部分意思应该是看到年轮判断树的生长，而不是判断比率吧。我觉得正确的理解应该是：seen修饰的是trees grow，trees grow修饰rate

小弟發表一下個人意見~

原題目後面的"their trunks"
their邏輯上指前面的trees,但形式上就近指代指了sunspot cycles
因此犯了指代錯誤

若看不懂on earth怎麼修飾或是後面的as seen...
還是可以靠這點來排除C
