why MBA, 请大家分析我的情况

kitty, your company is doing security/financial instrument investment, right? That is why CFA works. Given that LZ works in IBD, his "buy side" job is PE focusing on investing in company. If you have been working in corpoate finance area for more than 3 years, it is not a good casethat you still need a CFA title to increase your candidacy at least in my opinion.

my company is a mutual fund company, so it is very different from PE though.

Thanks for your kindly advice, could you give me more advice on how to demostrate my essay "why MBA", simply say I wanna to be in buy-side? that's not persuasive. My thoughts is that most people in finance industry do have a MBA, so you need a decent MBA degree to make more chemistry and get promoted (esp. in senior levels). Hope you could give me more hints. I would like to continue my career post-MBA in Private Equity or Venture Capital. (one reason is that at 30+ year old, IB may destory your family)

Think about "why buyside".... if the answer is "making more money", think about "why money".... and trace down, hopefullly you will find your answer.

why MBA? I noted most I-bankers didn't have MBA, only senior level has MBA as a chemistry with senior executives.

谢谢诸位对我情况的分析，的确是这样，可是我想去读书的原因就在于一个全球顶尖猎头推荐我给这些new PE的时候就因为没有海外背景而被拒绝。我倒是可以问问今年去HBS的一堆Bain Capital, KKR的junior他们为什么还要去读一个MBA,是不是因为在金融和私募投资这个圈子大家都有个decent degree, 你没有的话长期发展就会受到局限。请大家继续多多给我建议，谢谢！

_那不用问，HBS去读的理由太多了。但是北大光华的硕士毕业一年去投行20个，显然这20个不会都进HBS。你要想好TOP3万一没进，M7其他几个你自己是否接受。

life style at large buyout firms is no better than that at IB. If you come back to China, VC/PE is not a family friendly career either.

it's no problem that you want to switch to buy-side, many people said so in their essays and they got in, but you may want to add other things to make yourself look like ambitious someone who is not satisfied with ending up with big firms as small potato...

要是我爸是中央委员，我就不读MBA了，是我婶而已，so I need the MBA. 家里这一代貌似就我一个能qualify读MBA的。今天还被iBT狂打击，真是郁闷！
