UB回复关于就业辅导以及其情况的email,
Our office career advisors and I work with you individually face-to-face, via phone and email with more than just your resume. We will help prepare you for your job search by critiquing your cover letters, networking emails, thank you letters, we will perform practice interviews, provide workshops, help with offer negotiations, etc. When you want to look into a specific job or geographic region, we will run an alumni query so you can reach out to alumni for advice or networking. You may have noticed that your involvement in this process is high. Yes, we do provide on campus interviewing and job fairs, and many of our MS students have found employment through this avenue, but statistically, individual efforts and networking have been more fruitful efforts. Networking is the number one way domestic and international students get jobs in the US. For this reason, our office runs many networking events. We hold a gathering in NYC in January called Network NY, the same type of thing in Buffalo later in the spring called Network Buffalo, then we run an “Entrepreneurship Expo” and countless collaborative events with the local professional organizations, such as the IT trade organization called infoTech Niagara. Meanwhile, the clubs organize speakers and networking events throughout the year where they organize site visits and bring in company representatives and alumni. But it is up to you to speak with them intelligently and follow up appropriately. My office's role is to show you how to communicate appropriately and even practice with you if needed. The Buffalo, NY market is slower in comparison to many other markets nationally and globally, we therefore strongly encourage you to attend the national and regional recruitment events such as the Global MBA/Masters Employment Conference in Orlando, FL, the and of course we bring in companies such as IBM, KPMG, Bearing Point, Toys R Us, etc. for formal On-Campus Recruitment. The bulk of recruitment is not physically on campus, but job posting where you apply directly or through your own initiative. In addition, we collaborate with regional business programs to run such programs as the “Lubin Alliance” in New York City where NY-based companies who would not normally recruit our students agree to interview pre-selected candidates at the “Lubin Townhouse” in Manhattan. The beauty of coming to the University at Buffalo (UB) is that you have access to both the School of Management Career Resource Center as well as the entire UB Career Services Center. That Career Services Center serves all majors. Fortune 500 companies such as Microsoft, Bloomberg, Yahoo, Google, etc. visit or post openings with that center. They use that center vs. just the School of Management since they are looking for more than just the students we have to offer. |
