3.15 JJ - COMPLETE Oral, ReadingJust finished 3.15's test. Here are the passages and questions. Just wanted to pass along all the help I got from this site recently! Hope this helps~~~ I might post the writing and listening later.
Oral Task 1: Describe a poem, art, or song you that inspire you.
Task 2: Would you rather finish the book you're reading or put it down and finish it later?
Task 3:
In the reading: There's a change in the library. Now, all the reference materials are available online. Thus, the library will not be storing any more paper articles. Students will probably be less likely to come into the library to search for information.
In the listening: The man states the change is a great idea for two reasons.
Reason 1: This solves the storage problem. He had worked in the library, so he knew that the school was considering expanding the building. This would have been too expensive.
Reason 2: More convenient --- now almost every dorm has computers
Question: State the man's opinions.
Task 4:
Reading: Cyclic Population Change ... repetitive pattern between the population of predator and prey
Listening: The professor gives the example of wolves (predator) and mice (prey) in 3 phases. Phase 1: There are many mice and few wolves. So wolves have sufficient food supply and reproduce greatly. However, mice population decreases. Phase 2: There are now many wolves and few mice. There's not enough food supply for wolves, so they decrease. Then, the mice increase. Phase 3: There are many mice and few wolves. This is equivalent to Phase 1.
Question: What is Cyclic Population Change and how does the professor explain it?
Task 5:
The man's problem is that he has to finish his art history report. This report is due this week, but he had planned to go to the local art museum for more research. He planned to go to the museum tomorrow. However, the museum is closed tomorrow. He can't go today, because he has a health class in the afternoon.
The woman gives him two solutions.
Solution 1: Talk to his art history professor and see if he can't hand in the report the next week. But the man is afraid the professor will be upset and ash him why he waited until the last minute to do the report.
Solution 2: Talk to his health class professor and see if he can miss the class. The man likes this idea because he already read the material, has never missed one of these classes, and can copy the notes from another student.
Question: State the man's problem and the solutions the woman gives him. Which would you suggest?
Task 6:
Reinforcement --- positive reinforcement (encourage by adding a reward) & negative reinforcement (encourage by taking away sth. bad)
The professor gives the example of getting up early for a job. The positive reinforcement is to eat breakfast food you enjoy, so you can get up early. The negative reinforcement is when you hate taking showers in the morning; you should take them at night instead of the morning. This way, you can also get up early.

3. The crust is like broken eggshell. (考题; Q: Why mention eggshell? A: Use common object to describe Earth's crust)
4. Q: Why does crust move? A: The m*** underneath the crust slowly moves

4. the1st experiment: Young birds are placed in a closed environment, so they cannot hear adult birds sing. Thus, they develop only fragments of the adult songs; they cannot sing the complete songs. This shows that birds need to learn from adults, and both hereditary and environment cause dialects.
5. 2nd experiment: the birds can listen to tapings of adult bird songs. A bird can only listen to one of the two dialects. In the end, the bird can only sing whichever dialect it listens to. (考题)
6. 3rd experiment: the birds listen to songs of other bird species. In the end, they are able to learn the song of the other species.
7. 4th experiment: the birds listen to the song of their own species and the song of another species. In the end, they can only sing the song of their own species. They will always choose the song of their own species before songs of other species. (考题)
