I just got back from Berkeley Part-Time MBA information session. Three students talked about their experience: one lady (3 kids' mom) is a serial entrepreneur who founded three companies before; another gentleman quited his engineering job at Cisco and switched to venture capital job when he was still in the PT MBA program; the last student is an engineering manager at Cisco. Interestingly, they have a classmate who flys from Japan to attend class in California every other week. The school video taped every class so those students in business travel can watch the lessons over the Internet. The part-time students get the same MBA degree as the full-time program and they can access to the same career services for summer internship and career placement. The two adcoms are very receptive and they stayed after the session to chat with people. I was told that the number of this year's application is higher that that of the last year. I guess more people are interested in career development when US economy is heading for recession. In overall, I am very impressed with the quality of Berkeley part-time program, especially the high quality and diversified student profiles. Here is the latest statistics: Application received: 843 Entering class size: 243 Median Undergraduate GPA: 3.3 Middle 80% GPA Range: 2.8 - 3.8 Median GMAT: 700 Middle 80% GMAT range: 640 - 760 Median TOEFL (iBT): 114 Middle 80% TOEFL (iBT): 110 - 117 Previous Degrees: Bachelor only (55%), Master's (39%), Ph.D. (5%), Law (1%) Median Age: 31 Age Range: 24-53 International Students: 15% Median Years of Post-University Work Experience: 8 Middle 80% Range of Years of Work Experience: 5 - 12
