- corporate banking : ubs, gs, csfb
- private banking : hsbc, citigroup, jpm
- asset mgmt : hsbc, gs, ms
- equity trading : macquarie, db, bnp
- fx : ubs, db, jpm
- derivatives : socgen, bnp, macquari
In my opinion, ranking is not relevant, as long as you can do well on your specialized field and build your career on that. However, for those big names like gs, ms, ml, they always have an international reputation to buoy their names. gs and ms won almost all the major IPOs in the past year. if you want to work in m&a/underwriting/research, those banks mentioned are top notch. but if you wanna be a trader/quant/salesperson, those banks have very limited presence in the industry.
