78. Is it more important to be able to work with a group of people on a team or to work independently? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer. When faced with the statement, there is much disagreement over whether it is more important for people to work in a group. Some people maintain that it is meaningless because it is hard for us to make a unify standard. Other people, however, argue that people work together would create more values. Depending on personal experience, life style, and emotional concern, my choice would be the latter, if I were forced to agree with one of the two positions. Among numerous factors why I hold it is more important to work together for people, there are two conspicuous aspects as follows. The first reason for my fundamental view is that people can easily to get the goal by working on a group. When we consider work, the basic thing we should do is to achieve the goal. However, some things, especially those huge and difficult things, can not been done by someone independently. For example, when Beijing was to apply the 2008 Olympics, all of China helped Beijing to do the preparation. To be honest, it is impossible for Beijing to finish the application alone. The chairman of the application group told the reporters that the success of Beijing was arise from the people all of China and it was hardly for Beijing to do it independently on 13, July, 2001---the day of the successful application for the Olympics. The case of the successful application of Beijing adds great weight to this reasoning. In the second place, a more essential factor why I advocate the argument is that the teamwork is better for the communication among the people. People can not live a good life without communication, however, in the modern world, people have less and less time for communication because of the heavy stress from the society and the countless worry from work or some other things. The statement is especially true when it comes to the increasing number of people got psychological problems in the recent years. According to a lately survey carried out by the Social Department of Peking University, the reduction of the communication is an important factor result in this phenomena. It is undeniable that people are now enduring more pressure by working independently. As a result, teamwork can reinforce the feelings among people. In addition, we could learn the merits of other persons and avoid their disadvantages by working on a team. Admittedly, in a sense, teamwork sometimes is hard to control for its large range. And it is hard for the leader to make a unify standard. However, the minor troubles can not keep people from getting success for the flexibility of humans. We can adjust ourselves to adapt the surroundings at different times depend on different circumstances. Moreover, we also can foster our independent ability by doing some part of the whole work successfully. In a word, the merits of teamwork carry more weigh than all those advantages of working independently. To sum up, there is no uniform standard to such a complex issue. There are still numerous other aspects under discussion. However, taking into account those reasons in the above analysis will be sufficient to the understanding of the dilemma and the justification of my conclusion that people should work together for the common goal! |
