Today, ETS cancelled the Toefl test which is the last test in this year in almost all testing centers in North America because its computer system was down. Several students had to drive many hours and even took planes to take the last test for the application deadline is close. But after almost 4 hours waiting, they just were informed the test was cancelled. ETS only guaranteed that every candidate can reschedule another test for free. But when you reschedule, you will find there is no space available till Feb. 15th, 2008 or even March, 2008 in most testing centers.  ETS once required some testers to reschedule their tests because it overbooked. No compensation, No explanation, just arrogant answer. Because of its unresponsive and careless, many people's lives were changed. Their shcedules, their lives, their futures were destroyed. You might say " Who cares?" Toefl is just a test for foreigners. It's none of American's business. But please remember, ETS still offers AP, GRE, iSkills, SAT, MAPP, PRAXIS, etc. You Americans might meet the same situation. I always don't understand why ETS monopolise almost all important examinations in such a liberal economy. Microsoft, just one of the biggest software companies, is still accused and sued. Who can supervise the ETS???

不行咱们就约律师上法庭，凭什么啊它ETS,这可是在美国，我们权利遭侵犯了，不能就这么不了了之！！我们耽误了申请，耽误一年的时间，它ETS怎么给我们补偿？？

我今天打电话过去，那边傲慢的很，连一个解释都没有，始终坚持reschedule或者让我refund,实际上不就是给我们postpone吗，给我气的不行，最后给他FUCK就把电话挂了。

找律师我也想过了，丫让我今年申请不上，我就找律师告它！！

me, too. I'm in Germany. The guy in the test center said it was cancelled in the whole Europe.

I dont think European students really care about it, especially the Germans, since they usually get bad service anyway.

I guess nobody wants to keep on reviewing Toefl again and again, but now some people like me have to torture ourselves at X'mas due to the rescheduled date.I much prefer to take the test even on X'mas day before i start to forget everything!!!

btw,usually most Chinese students choose Toefl instead of taking English courses offered by the Uni where they want to study. I asked some German students and they said they might just go to England and start with the English class first, and therefore other students like Germans dont really care about the accident last Saturday---but we do need more students to complain and take action.Isnt it normal for people to apologize and make up for their mistakes?
