48. People work because they need money to live. What are some other reasons that people work? Discuss one or more of these reasons. Use specific examples and details to support your answer.

Nowadays, more and more people get into work especially women who used to stay at home for housework and raise children. There are several reasons for this phenomenon: basic need, money, self-fulfillment and so on. In a nut, job is more and more important for people, both men and women.

 

The initiate reason for people to work is the basic need to make a living. Before human culture began, when there was no concept about money, all people hunting for living in which men were in charge of catching animals and women were expected to breast children and pick fruits. There were so influenced resources that jobs were unnecessary for them.

 

As with the development of society, especially today, people have to work hard in order to earn more money not only to satisfy the basic need, but also help pursue better and better life which is the nature of human. For example, some people often move to a so called better community to show their capacity. When the neighbor buys a new car, the people would work harder to get such a car or even a better one. Actually, the potential competition in people forces them go to work.

 

However, there are other reasons for people to take part in work besides physical need. The most important one should be self-fulfillment. Since human is intelligent in emotion, they have necessity in mind, that is they would try to prove their value to the country. For example, the scientists, who often care little about money, devote themselves into invention and contribution to the country without considering their health or even lives. Such spirit impulse those people working in with an attitude of altruism. What they pursue is self-fulfillment.

In a word, human, the most intelligent living in the world, has need from many aspects. And most of their work does promote the society going forward.

Nowadays, competition in society is more and more tense, people are inclined to take a deeper education in universities for the case of having more opportunities to win in the competitions. But whether the university education is the prominent element for success in life or not? In my point of view, considering the practical knowledge people learn in university, I concede that university education is important to the success. However, it would never be the critical one which can determine win or lose.

Admittedly, university education is a way for people to become more erudite and self-confident. The things learned on campus make people know better about the field of their majors. And the experiment classes provide people chance to apply the principles printed in books into practice which mimic almost a true society for them to train themselves without being afraid of making mistakes. Before they graduate, they has master almost all basic backups to encourage them face the challenge in society bravely.

However, having university education does not mean success in the future, that is to say, university education is not the determined element for the success in career. For example, almost every year there are reports in the newspaper that some student graduated from the top university of China committed suicide. What has the high education brings to them? Undoubtedly abundant knowledge in the major, but at the same time, they failed to learn the basic living principle, such as how to handle stress, how to get along with others and so on.

What is more, some people who is successful in career did not accept such education. The most convinced example must be Bill Gates, who dropped out from Harvard
                    University, the best one in the world, when he was in grade two. If the education is critical for success, Gates would be sustaining starving and waiting for alms from the government. Paradoxically, he not only won but also won a big success which astounded the world with his effort, intelligence and the spirit that never be afraid of being lose. That means, people can achieve accomplishment even they do not have high education in university.

In a word, whether a person can succeed do not depend the education. As long as the person thinks actively and is willing to pay great effort, he or she would get achievement not matter he or she has the education of university or not.

175：Some students like classes where teachers lecture(do all of the talking)in class. Other students prefer classes where the students do some of the talking. Which type of class do you prefer?

Though some students,who propose the idea that classes where teachers lecture in class are better, claim that they could learn knowledge more directly and easily with teachers' introductions, some other students believe that knowledge can be absorbed more effetively and remembered more quikly through discussings with classmates. With every aspects considered, it is a wiser choice to let teachers give lectures to all of the class, which can boarden their range of knowledge, cultivate their ability of thinking by themselves, and save lots of time.

It is the teachers who can teach boys and girls at school most knowledge in certain times.As everyone know, many teachers in universities are experts in their own acedemic areas. While giving a talk, they always refer to something new and significant to the class, instead of just reading the textbooks loudly. Some times the knowledge can make a key role that enlighten some students' minds,or even change ones' life goals. I can take one of my friends for example. She was a medical student in a famous medical college, but she became interested in biology in the microbiology class. Her teacher described such a interesting micro world that she decided to learn biology from then on. And now she is doing a wonderful job in a big company.

Besides, teachers usually do well in encouraging the students thinking actively. While giving a lecture, they may try to orgnize their materials in a logical order,which can help the students to follow the main ideas. Then the students can look into deeply in right direction independently,ont wandering everywhere.

It is also can save planty of time if the lectures are prepared by teachers. Obviously, students without enough knowledge can hardly write out a clean-minded lecture, which give others hardly any benefits. So if everyone spend several days to find references, modify crafts,and so on, which could not be of great use, just imagine what a waste of time and energy it is! In fact, they can finish many other improtant things utilizing those tens of hours.

It is true that, in the course of preparing and giving lectures,students can get familiar with how to learn knowledge by themselves, to obtain useful information, and to epress themselves. However, from what have been discussed above, to ensure the high efficience of every class, it is better to listen to the teachers' lectures.
