The issue of whether playing games can teach us about life is a controversial one. Different people have different answers depending on personal experience and emotion concern. The way I see it, playing games can teach us to obey the rules; handle the success and failure, and foster teamwork spirit. In the following analysis, I will present several reasons to support my position.
To begin with, playing games can teach us to obey the rules. Every game has its own rules, without rules everything will decline to chaos. In a game, once you break the rules, you will be deprived of the right to go on playing. Take a concrete example, a football player who knocks down another athlete from the opposite team on purpose will be shown a red card by the judge and asked to stop playing. Games are simplified models of real life in the society. Once we learn to obey rules in the games, it will be easier for us to follow the law of a country, the rules of a company and the disciplines of a school.
Next, playing games can teach us to sense and handle the success and failure. Life is full of both the joy of win and the pain of lose. Therefore the better we handle those feeling, the happier we will be. Playing games provide us many opportunities to practice facing both situations, so we may take it easy when we are defeated and keep from arrogant when we succeed. That is to say, we can obtain healthy attitudes towards life through playing games.
Finally, playing games is of enormous value for people to cultivate team spirit. As is known to all, cooperation plays a cardinal part in modern life. And playing games can also cultivate sportsmanship. For example, no one can succeed in the basketball game without cooperation.
