没有community service是不是没戏了

看老外都是什么local charities and fundraisers blah blah.....

我什么post-graduation的 community service 都没有， 现在开始写在essay中也完了，而且也忙不过来。 是不是没戏了？

愁。。。。。。。

中国教育不像美国非常注重community service, 我去休斯敦参观NASA 培训中心是看到很多维持排队、引导观众参观的都是中学志愿者；我们几十年前还讲学雷锋帮助五保户什么的，现在好像都淡化了。

但是你还是有很多说的，好好想一想。以往申请者有这样写的：2003年非典期间帮助“封锁”的居民区住户买菜、 帮助同事进步或解决困难、 国内水灾期间发起公司内部捐款、长年捐助希望工程等等。当然实在没有了，就突出你的兴趣爱好和其它方面吧。Hope it helps.

谢谢大家的回复。最开始是因为网上填表时都有专门一个section填这些。 而且连professional membership 也没有。

我一看都空着顿时feel blue 了。 

现在感觉踏实些了！没有就没有。 就focus上现在有什么写什么吧。

刚回了贴看到这个回复。 对呀。小时候读书到时一直学雷锋，帮助老人都有活动的。

the problem is I am in US actually, but have none community service here. so bad...........

Yea, I am on the same boat too - living in the US w/o any community service.
Is it necessary to demonstrate leadership in the community service?  Or it doesn't matter as long as I work as a volunteer?
Can somone comment?
